What is a Ebele Oil Seal?

The standard Ebele oil seal is basically a pressureless seal. Intended for a rotating non-axial sliding shaft. Because a support ring (see drawing) can be used that is adapted to the profile of the sealing lip, the oil seal could withstand a pressure of 0.5 bar. For even higher pressures, special oil seals are currently available that can withstand pressures of up to 10 bar. Check our webshop for more information.

How can I mount it?

- Before mounting, check if the shaft and housing are clean and burr-free.

- Use a mounting sleeve if the oil seal is over, for example a keyway must be pushed.

- Lubricate sealing lip and shaft with clean grease or oil. If RP or RDuo is mounted, fill the space between the two lips with grease.

- Install the oil seal evenly using a tool. By using one of the many tools, you make it easy for yourself to mount the oil seal.

- The sealing lip must always point to the side of the liquid to be sealed.

Notes on the shaft and the house

Shaft finish and shaft hardness are two important factors in the life of an oil seal. A shaft with a hardness of an oil seal HRC 45 and a tolerance according to ISO H11 is the most suitable oil seal. The pipe bore is minimum according to ISO H8. Both the shaft and the housing must have a very high surface smoothness.

What are the materials?

The standard oil seals consist of an unalloyed carbon steel reinforcement ring, usually surrounded by a rubber outer casing made of different compounds. Each of these compounds (rubber compound) has its own temperature range and media resistance.

Material: NBR

Hardness: 70 ± 5.

Temperature range: -40 to +100.

resistant to: mineral oils, fats, water, alcohol and acetylene.

Material: FKM/FPM (Viton)

Hardnesss: 75 ± 5

Temperature range: – 30 + 200

Resistant to: Synthetic and hydraulic fluid, hydrochloric acid, diesel oil and gasoline.
